Thoughts on Climate Change

After reading and watching so much about climate change and how it all came about, I really feel motivated to do this project well. Climate Change , to many or should I say most of us humans still seem to be a distant and somewhat unreal term. I think there are many reasons and excuses for thinking so, some of which I was guilty of as well. In the documentary ” The eleventh Hour ” , it was said that one of the biggest reasons for the continuous acceleration of global warming came as a result of the disconnection between us and nature, that we as humans are too self centered and actions are made out of political and economical considerations. Which might very well be true and I think it is true. We all live in a technology driven society and somehow we always think that at the end of the day, technology will be the one thing that saves the world. Sure, that may be possible, through the little known term ” Geo-engineering “. However, that in itself is a moral hazard and a temporal salvation. In the long run, if we as a whole do not reflect upon our doing and change the way we live and think, life on earth might not be able to last long. As stephen Hawkings mentioned, our future might very well lie in the colonization of space, an alien planet that hosts no life without technological assistance.

Hope is not within our reach though, but everyway that might be possible needs to be utilised. So how do I or how can I get people to think about this pressing issue or even emergency? I’ve been thinking about how I can make use of scare tactics in my work. I want to reflect in my work possible future everyday conditions of the post human under climate change influence. The price to pay could be our identity of human, the enhanced human look which might be only normal to us in the future but certainly not so presently. The price to pay could be convenience , survival tools that might restrict our movements and daily lives. In a literal sense, what do we use to pay for all these? Money? Food? Water? Body parts as commodities and currency? Think , think, think, think and please may inspiration strike soon.
